Long time, no blog
It has been a long time since I put fingers to keys and caught up with my blog posts. My dad is in hospital right now as he suffered heart failure last week. Thankfully he seems not too bad, and they are keeping him in until they can do an operation to fit him with a bioventricular device. ( Look it up.. I did
)
Anyway, I have from pillar to post trying to do ten things at once and I am failing to keep up. The site is taking a back seat to the point where today, I sold something that I don't actually have. The worst thing was that I had it on ebay.... that is really going to do wonders for my feedback! I just don't seem to have time to stop and check what I am doing. Part of the problem being that I have no stock room as such as everything is shoved on shelves out of the way as I have my mum and dad staying (well, when he is not in hospital)
I am just hoping that the person I have sold to will be someone really nice and forgiving who will accept my apologies, a big reduction and an alternative. I have one item, but the other is not as described as I have no box and it has the wrong base..... sigh......
So, my mornings are taken up with general housework, taking the dog for a walk or working for my old lady plus a mad dash on the computer to see if anything has sold, and if it has a trip to the post office, visiting my dad in the afternoon and trying to fit everything else into my evening.
Still, I know it could be far worse, so I am not actually complaining ..... just flustered!!
My mum and dad are planning to move back to Mold when they are finished with the hospital, so I guess I shouldn't expect to be able to do much business wise until then.
I have heard that Wendy Rule is appearing in Glastonbury in October.... I really MUST get there somehow. Her appearances in the UK are very rare, and she has been my really top favourite singer for the last couple of years now.
I intended to start buying and selling crested china, but at the moment I am enjoying having it as a collection which is really not good for business!
Still .............. not to worry

Website
Hello all
I am trying to find a new host for the website. It is all well and good using a free site, but it isn't really ecommerce friendly
I have been checking the stats, and apparently Google is checking only the home page of the site, so of course it is missing all the stock pages. That being the case, The Pagan Shop is never going to get a Google rating, and it does need one. I have sourced a host that is reasonably priced, who will host zencart (which I am fairly used to with The Witching Tree). I just need to see how much support and help they give for the price.
Yesterday I went to do the readings in Margate... what a farce. Not a single person walked through the door with the slightest interest in having a reading. I had psyched myself up too! I did a free reading for another reader who was there which was good, and she was a lovely person, so at least there was that.
I have been looking for some new stock for the site. I have a friend who is trying to help by buying me tarot cards and books etc at auctions and charity shops. Sadly, they are not always good for the site, and can be available new for far less than she paid second hand. Also, there are heavy books and the postage would be far more than the book is worth. It is good of her to try though.
Tansy has not been a well doggy over the week end as she has had a bit of an upset tummy. She seems a little better this morning, so we went for a mid length walk around rather than mad running in the park.
My daughter in law is still doing well with the babies. They believe she is pregnant with what they call mo-mo twins, which is quite dangerous for the babies as they are in the same sac. Fingers crossed for David, Donna and the babies.

Readings
I have been asked to go and do some Faery Oracle readings at a venue on Sunday. Terrifies the c**p out of me as I have not done 'official' readings before, especially when people will have to pay me for them. I lifted out my cards to have a look and see how they felt, and basically they were saying 'ner ner ner ner ner' which isn't a heartening thought. I have a couple of days now in which to get the feel for them again. When I have used them for readings, they have proved to be accurate. I have very little confidence however to give a face to face reading on a semi-professional basis.
I think I will have to be upfront with customers (assuming I get any!!), and tell them that asking specific questions with this deck doesn't work. They are not tarot cards and they work differently, on a very intuitive level. Again, that may be the problem. I may find it difficult to tune in in a market type environment.
Here I am throwing all kinds of doubts in my own path as usual. I guess I will just have to suck it and see.
So... off I go today to do my bit of cleaning .... such as it is. She is a dear old lady, who keeps wanting my reassurance that she is 'tidy'. I tell her she is because its true. I never have alot to do at her house, and spend much of the time chatting with her, which I suspect is what she really wants. I did once tell her that I couldn't take money from her just for having a chat, so I think she sends me off to do a bit of dusting or vacuuming to appease my conscience.
The sun is out at the moment, but it is cold out there. Those couple of lovely days have given me a real appetite for spring. I sat at the harbour, the sun warming me through and through and felt a yearning for the return of the sun and warmth. The return of life after the sleep of winter.... what a wonderful season. I have to admit that I love the summer months, being quite a fan of sunshine and high temperatures. It is a time to seek out the cool and shade of the woodlands and tree lined streams, to listen to the birds and insects, to appreciate the green of the leaves and the bluebells dancing in the clearings. Bring it on!!!
One thing that drives me mad are workmen who respond to every question with a shrug of the shoulders and a mumbled "dunno love". Before Christmas, a house two doors up had scaffolding erected prior to renovation. This means that we no longer get reception through our sky dish. Fair enough, work has to be done, I know. Since then, no one has been up the bloody scaffolding.... all the work has been inside, even during the sunshine we had had the past few days. I asked why it had to put up before they were ready to work on the outside ... "dunno love, just the way it is". I asked how long they were likely to be .... "dunno love". I asked when they were going to even start on the exterior ...... "dunno love". "Where can I find someone who DOES know?" ......... yeah, yeah, you guessed it ... "dunno love".
They are apparently waiting for a roofer but don't know when he may or may not arrive, or how long he is likely to take once he gets here. Meanwhile, there is painting and rendering to be done that isn't being done....... grrrrrr!!!!

Lazy Sunday
It is pouring with rain here today, along with most of the rest of the country I think! I have decided that I may well have a really lazy Sunday afternoon. I may write a couple of paranormal articles up for the site, but there again I may not!
I have been talking old family social history (well listening really) with my dad. He has been a wealth of information this morning enabling me to picture some of the long dead relatives to seem 'real' somehow ..... giving them personality and life. Photos are extremely thin on the ground as for some reason my grandad destroyed them all. Occasionally I connect with a distant cousin on Ancestry and learn something new or I am sent a photo of a relative which is brilliant.
I have communicated and remained in touch with family that I was unaware existed which is amazing and wonderful. I think the best was finding an address in Australia which was the last known address of a great uncle who had emigrated there in the 1950's. I wrote hoping that a) he was still alive, and b) that he actually still lived in the same house. Weeks went by and I heard nothing, then when I was on holiday at my sons in Leeds I got a phone call from Uncle Ernie in Oz ..... not only was he alive and well, but he invited my hubby and I to visit him at his home in a little outback place called Gnangara (near Perth). He even paid!! We went out there for five weeks visiting places like Fremantle and Dunsborough and getting to know his daughter and their family. What an amazing experience.
Sadly, I don't think he liked us too much and has since ignored letters and cards and I don't suppose I will ever know why. I emailed his grandaughter who said he was hale and hearty, so I guess he is just not interested.
My husband has a lot of overtime this weekend because of the rain. He works for the Environment Agency on flood defence. Its good that he can earn some extra money, but I don't know how he does it ...... all day Friday followed by two trips out in the middle of the night, the same Saturday and Sunday. I honestly don't know how he can keep his eyes open! EG: Today he is working a full day starting at 7.30 am, then he has to go open sluice gates at 12.30 am, close them again at 5.30am and then be back at work at 7.30am to put in another full day. I know I couldn't work all day and half the night too!!
I have been offered an extra little bit of cleaning if it comes off, so that will help. It seems ridiculous that a man earning a decent full time wage can't afford to pay the bills, the mortgage and keep me. Thats the way it was years ago, and frankly I am no womens libber, I just like being a homebody. I know it is modern life, but I don't have to like or agree with it.
